I had the same problem with Farsi when I wanted to add an English word it became scrambled. now every thing is fine. It's odd that you can change the text direction by pressing left or right ctrl+shift in IE, MS word, even notepad but you can't do it in Firefox and it should be through it's own keyboard shortcut ctrl+shift+X which is now available thanks to your solution. You just saved another poor soul

I guess they're just using the same text control for the address bar as they are using in the web pages. Maybe someday when the URLs actually become unicode it might be useful. For my mother :).
